Hey, developers! The new Indie Dev Grant is here!

This lovely IDG pic has been kindly created by game artists and indie dev Ben Chandler.

Kyttaro Games are happy to announce a brand new Indie Dev Grant initiative; one that will hopefully help one more indie developer or team achieve their creative goals .

Having already supported such amazing indie projects as Maia, Under the Ocean, Whispering Willows and 99 Spirits and having helped bring more exposure to as many excellent indie games as we could, Kyttaro Games and Bundle In A Box are ready to once again accept your Indie Dev Grant submissions!

Oh, and, of course, we are also more than excited to announce our very next bundle too: The Capsule Computers Indie Bundle by gaming site Capsule Computers and Bundle In A Box, that will very soon be going live.

So…

What is the Indie Dev Grant?

The Indie Dev Grant, that popular feature of Bundle In A Box we are most proud of, is a grant designed to help indie game developers actually create the games they’ve always wanted to. For every 100 bundles sold $15 will be added to the grant. One indie developer (be it a group or an individual) voted by the esteemed fans of Bundle in a Box will get the whole amount after the bundle ends.

No strings will be attached by either Bundle in a Box or Kyttaro Games. The grant can be used in any way the developer that earns it sees fit and will in no way be obliged to co-operate with Kyttaro Games, Capsule Computers or Bundle in a Box. Developers that have already taken part in one of our bundles or are willing to do so in the future are also eligible for the grant. Actually, absolutely anyone is free to enter; yes, even people trying to buy some time in order to create their next freeware gem.

Will the IDG help a game get any exposure?

Yes, we know it will.

Each game or project will be presented on the BIAB Blog, our tumblr, facebook, google plus page and twitter and, of course, on the Indie Dev Grant site.

How can a game be submitted?

As gamers will start voting on the developer that will earn the grant from the moment the bundle launches, we do ask those interested in participating to contact us with their entries up to May 24, 2013.

To enter, please e-mail us at info@bundle-in-a-box.com and provide us with the following:

-A title for the project you are going to be using the IDG for.

-One screenshot or piece of concept art from your project.

-One link to your project’s or your personal site (if available).

-A description of your project (up to 200 words).

-Something about you or your team (up to 100 words).

-One link to a trailer from your project (if available).

-One download link to a demo or an early version of your project (if available).

Mail us and we’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible. Keep in mind that offensive or copyright infringing projects will not be accepted. Also, already released games cannot be accepted.

How can *you* help the Indie Dev Grant?

Well, you could spread the word about both the Indie Dev Grant and Bundle In A Box; after all, the financial help and exposure we can provide to indie developers is directly analogous to the popularity of our bundle.

What’s more, you can e-mail us at info@bundle-in-a-box.com to directly donate money to the grant. Details on donations and the names of donors will be available on the forthcoming Indie Dev Grant site.

Unlocking the BIAB Cerebral Bundle Bonus Content

Having finally had the first Cerebral Bundle bonus unlock at 1000 sales and after six whole days (it is the lovely Phantasmaburbia Deluxe Box in case you haven’t noticed), it has become apparent that, at this rate, unlocking the rest of the wonderful extra content we’ve put together for you would be almost impossible. And that, dear gamers, would be a shame.

We have thus changed the rules, fiddled with the numbers, pleaded with demi-gods and decided that the rest of the bonus content will unlock for every 250 sales; a more modest, more achievable goal. So, here’s the way our bonuses will become available to you (remember, you do not have to beat the average price to get our unlockable extras):

-1250 sales: Dédale DeLuxe Wallpapers unlock

-1500 sales: Cognition Prequel Comic unlock

-1750 sales: Dédale De Luxe OST unlock

-2000 sales: Necrotic Drift Source Code unlock

-2250 sales: Cognition OST unlock

-2500 sales: Reversion Music unlock

Help us reach these goals! Grab the bundle and, please, spread the word!

The new Indie Dev Grant site has been launched!

We are very proud of our Indie Dev Grant initiative and keep trying to find ways to further improve it; to make it better for all the indie developers that have honoured us with their submissions. That is exactly why we raised the amount given to the grant for every 100 sales from $10 to $15, that is why we try and make constant improvements to our polling system and that’s why we work so hard on presenting you with the games.

That is also the reason that led us to create the Indie Dev Grant site. A brand new corner of the web, where all of the IDG nominees are properly showcased. A place to search, browse and discover fantastic games, but also a place where your creation can be given a chance. A properly indie place.

And, please, do not forget that the Indie Dev Grant can only truly matter if more Bundle In A Box bundles are sold, so grab your Cerebral Bundle and help us spread the word!

Thank you!

IDG Nominee: Tides Of Glory

[The BIAB Blog is presenting the Indie Dev Grant nominees that Bundle In A Box will be funding. Voting for the IDG winner will begin as soon as the Cerebral Bundle bundle goes live.]

The Project:

‘Tides Of Glory’ is an action based MMO for mobile platforms; with fast paced, real time combat; and a detailed immersive world. Players will need their reflexes to survive, but their wits to flourish as they play the economy and rise to power. Customisable content will be at the heart of my game’s business model. Items that affect abilities in game will only be attainable with in game currency – preventing large wallets from conquering the world. The game will feature offline play as well as online play, catering to the unreliable nature of mobile internet.

The Team:

Tides Of Glory has been my life for the last couple of years, and a large chunk of it has been completed– it just needs a little bit more work to get it up to a standard I can be truly proud of. Its biggest weakness at the moment is art assets.

I started programming professionally at Blade Interactive Studios in 2006. A year later I was made Head of Mobile and we released some of the best 2D and 3D pool and snooker games on the market. I was particularly proud of WCP2010 3D where we were allowed to really push the boat out in terms of graphics, making some of the shiniest balls ever seen on mobile at the time (there is a joke in there somewhere).

IDG Nominee: Whispering Willows

[The BIAB Blog is presenting the Indie Dev Grant nominees that Bundle In A Box will be funding. Voting for the IDG winner will begin as soon as the Cerebral Bundle bundle goes live.]

The Project:

Whispering Willows is a horror puzzle game that features a dark and rich narrative, beautiful 2-D visuals, and haunting melodies that will leave you yearning for more. The game will release for OUYA, PC, Linux, and Mac (and later to Android and iOS). The emotional story will unfold over five riveting chapters, each more intriguing than the last. The story will immerse you in a rich history steeped in the depths of the human soul as you solve the mysteries of wayward spirits.

You will assume the role of a young girl named Elena as she searches for her missing father, against challenging odds, working through unconventional puzzles and bypassing other-worldly obstacles. She must harness the powers of her heritage, utilizing astral projection and other ethereal abilities to find her father before he, too becomes lost to the hopeless morass of the Willows estate.

The Team:

Night Light Interactive is an indie game studio based in the Los Angeles area, established in 2012 by David Logan. Our goal at Night Light Interactive is to create innovative, exciting, and memorable experiences. Being gamers ourselves, we’re always trying to innovate and create something totally new and unique, while retaining the best elements of the old. The ultimate payoff is to see the reaction of someone who experiences a game we have created. When we initially started Whispering Willows, that was and remains our goal.

IDG Nominee: Perdgard

[The BIAB Blog is presenting the Indie Dev Grant nominees that Bundle In A Box will be funding. Voting for the IDG winner will begin as soon as the Cerebral Bundle bundle goes live.]

The Project:

Perdgard as of now is a turn-based strategy, survival game, with permanent death. A band of travelers has entered the realm of Perdgard, seeking something more… What they discover is a world encompassed by darkness, loss, and death. Lamp oil is quickly becoming scarce and the creatures of the darkness grow forever bolder, what’s left to explore?

So far, nothing has been set into stone and Perdgard is very early on in development, with only a movement and lighting system for combat in place. As well as concepts, feelings, and filler/basic art are on their way.

The Team:

Perdgard is created solely by myself, Taylor Bai-Woo(KinzyBW), as my main game development project. My skills are mainly focused in art and design and I’m using unity as an engine to boost my average programming abilities. Writing and music are fairly foreign to me, but I know people! Perdgard is what has emerged thus far, and I’m simply working on it, with no deadlines or big design plans.

IDG Nominee: Galactose: Pastries in Space

[The BIAB Blog is presenting the Indie Dev Grant nominees that Bundle In A Box will be funding. Voting for the IDG winner will begin as soon as the Cerebral Bundle bundle goes live.]

The Project:

Galactose is a three dimensional space shooter/RTS hybrid that chronicles the war between Dinner and Dessert. The player can join the battle in roles ranging from piloting a single fighter drone to commanding the fleet from a god’s eye view, allowing them to experience all scales of the action.

In drone-mode, the player remotely pilots an individual ship and thrown right in fray, dodging missiles, taking out hamburger fighters, and defending their mothership from broccoli bombers. On the other end is the command view, where the player is given RTS style controls to evaluate the tactical landscape and command their fleet accordingly. In any given view the player can turn or orient themselves in any way they want; there is no “up” in space.

Galactose aims to have a fun, light-hearted theme but still with gameplay that can be taken seriously. Those potato point defenses are serious threat, but you’ll have to take care of them if you want your banana split guided missile cruisers to be of any help. We recommend starting with a light tutorial and then working your way up from there, preferably consulting a dietitian before taking on the never ending all-you-can-eat mode!

The Team:

I’m the project lead, and one of the programmers, John. We have a reasonably small team of currently seven people at the moment. There is David, who is the other programmer, his specialty is the AI. We have an audio guy, Matthew Pablo, who produced the music used in our game, and did some of our sound effects. Mignonne is our 2d artist, she is helping revise our UI and background graphics. Finally, we have three 3d artists, Sid, Melissa and Rob. They are in charge of creating our game-ready 3D models and texturing them to compliment our current art style.

IDG Nominee: The Curious Expedition

[The BIAB Blog is presenting the Indie Dev Grant nominees that Bundle In A Box will be funding. Voting for the IDG winner will begin as soon as the Cerebral Bundle bundle goes live.]

The Project:

“Oh man, this game has everything. It has dinosaurs and dapper gentlemen.
IT’S A JURASSIC GENTLEMEN SAFARI” – TIGForum quote

The Curious Expedition is a roguelike-strategy-puzzle-game set in the late 19th century in which you will venture on unprecedented expeditions to regions never seen before.

Put on the pith hat and khakis of a famous explorer and make your way through a lush, procedurally generated world full of wonder and mystery. Visit and interact with the land’s natives. Enter villages to trade and communicate with local tribes that are unknown to mankind.

Interact with exotic natives and wildlife. Battle jaguars and gorillas and, yes, dinosaurs and zombies. Loot mysterious temple ruins to gain fame and treasure, but watch out for deadly traps and curses that will compromise your men and the whole world around you.
As you explore and interact with the world, your actions will cause the region to gradually go out of balance, until the trail of chaos you left catches up and forces you to run for your life.

Adventure awaits!

The Team:

We’re two guys, working on a game we love for more than 1 year now, while still having our regular 8 hours day jobs.

Our goal is be able to go full time with The Curious Expedition. We want to quit our day jobs and work on games that would never be funded by a big publisher, but inspire us as gamers, developers and human beings that like to dream.

IDG Nominee: Vertigo

[The BIAB Blog is presenting the Indie Dev Grant nominees that Bundle In A Box will be funding. Voting for the IDG winner will begin as soon as the Cerebral Bundle bundle goes live.]

The Project:

“Vertigo” is a vertical platformer viewed from a top-down perspective where you flee the formless mass that chases you up out of the darkness. The journey upwards through infinite space will be made easier by collecting lost souls that can be heartlessly traded in for powerups that can boost your ascent.

The Team:

Take Two Tablets is a one person who is following their dream of creating games for their own selfish pleasure. Some day others may play these games and join my pleasure so I don’t feel selfish. Sometimes friends get involved to donate music, audio, art and so forth but these relationships are fleeting.
